The animal sets the architecture
The enclosure is a design plan, not a built habitat. The useful constraint is that the animal sets the architecture. Jumping spiders often build near the top of an enclosure, so the top should not be the primary access path.
That decision changes the whole shape of the design: front access for feeding and maintenance, electronics in a dry top module, and a secondary cap so the electronics can be reached without opening the main living chamber.
